Booking
Write to library@sensenetstudios.com at least five working days ahead with the dates you would like, what you are researching and, if you know them, the catalogue numbers of the material you need. We will confirm a desk and tell you which material can be brought up for you. There is no charge.
The room
The reading room is the restored 1926 mine office: twenty-four desks, six listening booths for the binaural collections and four carrels with Fullfield playback. Material comes up from the deep store in about forty minutes. Pencils only; bags go in the lockers by the door, under the mine’s old salt scale.
What you can see
Most of the collection can be consulted in the room. Some cannot: titles withdrawn from public access at a performer’s request, consent sessions, which only the performer may see, and a small number of collections closed at the request of a performer or their estate. We will tell you before you travel if anything you ask for is closed.
Copies
Researchers may take notes and, for most material, low-resolution reference copies for private study. Anything for publication or exhibition goes through licensing, which will ask the performer.
