— The reading room of the Sense/Net Library reopened today after a two-year restoration of the 1926 mine office that houses it. The room has 24 reader desks, six listening booths for the binaural collections and four carrels with Fullfield playback for the first-person collections, and it can now bring material up from the deep store in about forty minutes.

The restoration kept the office’s pressed-tin ceiling and the scale on which the mine once weighed its salt, which now weighs the Library’s outgoing parcels.

Researchers may book a desk through the Library. Access to material in the deep store is by appointment.
