01Summary

This report covers the six months from January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026. Where a figure can be compared with July to December 2025, we give the change.

Together with the report for July to December 2025, it makes up the fiscal year to June 30, 2026. The annual report for that year will bring the two halves together. Definitions of the terms used are in section 11.

The half-year in figures

  • Performers recorded: 262 (243 in July to December 2025, up 7.8%), 171 of them for the first time.
  • Withdrawals of consent before release: 8 (6 in July to December 2025, up 33.3%). Every one was honored.
  • Withdrawals from public access after release: 5, completed in a median of 11 days and all within 30.
  • Titles retired: 23; 1,847 titles in distribution on June 30, 2026.
  • Rights claims received: 36 (32 in July to December 2025, up 12.5%).
  • Requests for viewer data from courts and governments: 13 (10 in July to December 2025, up 30.0%); we complied in full with 2 of them.
  • Safety incidents during capture: 41, or 9.7 per 1,000 capture hours (9.0 in July to December 2025, up 0.7 points).
  • Appeals decided or open: 62, of which 23 changed our decision.

03Withdrawals of consent and retired titles

A performer may withdraw consent at any point before release, to the whole recording or to one or more tracks. A title from which a performer has withdrawn is not released (§4.2). Where the withdrawal covers only the Breath or Heart track, the title may be released without that track. The performer is paid for the work done in every case.

A title can be affected by more than one withdrawal when more than one performer is recorded for it.

After release, a performer may ask at any time for a title to be withdrawn from public access. We complete the withdrawal within 30 days, pay any residuals already earned, and ask any archive that holds a deposited copy to restrict it (§5.1, §5.2).

A withdrawn title is kept in the Library and is not lent, licensed or deposited again. No request was refused or contested by the company.

A title is retired when it is taken out of distribution for any reason. Retired titles stay in the Library.

The Library deposited 117 copies of retired products and out-of-commerce titles with Lazarus in the half-year, each with the agreement of every performer in it or their estate.

04Material from third parties

Most of what we hold we recorded ourselves. This section reports the two sources from which we received material made by others in the half-year: the Kestrel Hill catalogue, which the Library acquired in March 2024, and reference material licensed for Fullfield Ambient.

Kestrel Hill titles return to distribution as Fullfield Archive releases only when every performer in them, or their estate, has signed the current Consent Standard.

Fullfield Ambient is trained on footage recorded by Sense/Net crews and on ambient first-person reference footage licensed from a Tokyo optics partner under the partner’s consent framework. Reference material is used only to train and calibrate Ambient. It never appears in a title, nobody in it appears in one, and it is held apart from the catalogue under §1.4 of the Consent Standard.

Kestrel Hill: 152 performers or estates had signed the current Consent Standard by June 30, 2026. Their consent records are held in the Library.

Reference material: frames accepted after our ingest checks. All of it was supplied under the licensor’s consent framework. Consent records for this material are held by the licensor. No reference frame appears in any title.

05Rights claims and takedown notices

A rights claim is a claim that a Sense/Net title uses something that belongs to someone else. Most concern music heard on a location, or artwork, signs and screens in shot. We check each claim against the clearances held for the title and reply in writing.

Open on July 31, 20263

No title was retired because of a rights claim. Requests from people who believe they appear in a title are not rights claims; they are reported in the annual report.

We also look for unauthorized copies of our titles on other websites and services. A copy that includes the Breath or Heart track carries a recording of a performer’s body, and we send notices for those copies first.

07Ratings, age and content warnings

Every title is rated for age and for motion before release and carries a content warning where it needs one. A Sense/Net Player account is held by an adult. A household may add profiles for younger viewers, each set to an age band, and a profile cannot open a title rated above its band.

An account is restricted when its holder does not complete an age check. Restrictions can be appealed (section 09).

08Safety during capture and playback

A performer may stop a take at any time, without giving a reason, by raising a closed fist or saying “stop” (§3.1). The capture technician also stops a take for equipment or safety reasons. Injuries and illnesses on set are recorded in the production safety log and reviewed each week by Sense/Net Studios.

Viewers can report discomfort from the Sense/Net Player, and every report is read by a person. A title that draws more reports than its motion rating would lead us to expect is re-rated.

09Appeals and disputes

Viewers can ask us to review a restriction on their account. Viewers, performers and licensees can ask us to review an age rating. A person whose rights claim we did not uphold can ask for it to be looked at again. Each appeal is decided by someone who did not make the first decision.

A performer who believes the Consent Standard has been broken may raise it with performer relations, then with the general counsel, and if it cannot be settled, in binding arbitration in Los Angeles, for which the company pays (§8).

10About these figures

  • Figures cover January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026. They were extracted on July 31, 2026 from the consent register, the production and safety logs, the Library’s distribution records, the rights and legal request logs and the records of the Sense/Net Player.
  • Requests, claims, appeals and incidents are counted in the half-year in which they were received or happened. Outcomes are as at the date of extraction.
  • A performer is counted once in a half-year, however many titles they were recorded for. A title is counted in the strand it was released in.
  • The figures for the two halves of a fiscal year add up to those in the annual report for that year, except counts of individual performers, which the annual report counts once.
  • Percentages are rounded to one decimal place and may not add up to 100. The web and PDF editions of this report carry the same figures.
  • Definitions are unchanged from the report for July to December 2025, and no figure in that report has been restated.
